In Tales of Silk Road, young artist Mogao sets out on a journey, seeking creative inspiration for his artistic work. During his travels he is seriously wounded, only to be saved by the beautiful daughter of Dunhuang's Great General. When Mogao and heroine Yueya fall in love, their romance is forbidden by her father, who insists on his daughter's arranged marriage to an affluent and famous countryman.

As the couple flees and seeks asylum, they are surrounded by the Great General's army in a violent and deadly confrontation. Amidst the fury and chaos of the struggle, Yueya saves Mogao's life once again, but tragically, she is mortally wounded. In her death, she is transformed into an eternal spring
