In 1944, a Jewish couple in Paris desperately await news of their missing family. More than 70 years later, the couple’s great-grandchildren find themselves facing the same question as their ancestors: "Are we safe?" Following five generations of a French Jewish family, Prayer for the French Republic is a sweeping look at history, home, and the effects of an ancient hatred. This powerful world premiere comes from acclaimed playwright Joshua Harmon (Bad Jews, Significant Other) and director David Cromer, a Tony Award winner for The Band's Visit.

COVID Safety Information:
City Center is a fully vaccinated venue.
As of March 21, 2022, all eligible artists, crew, staff, and audience members are required to provide proof of a full Covid-19 vaccination. You are fully vaccinated two weeks after receiving a one-dose vaccine or both doses of a two-dose vaccine, approved by the US Food and Drug Administration or the World Health Organization.
Children under the age of 17 will not be required to present a Photo ID, as long as they are accompanied by parents or guardians with valid photo ID.
Children under 5 will not be admitted.
Upon arrival to the theater, vaccination proof must be presented along with your ticket. Please bring your government-issued photo ID and register in advance for one of the following forms of vaccination proof:
NYC COVID SAFE App for Android or iOS: This app displays your photo ID, vaccination card, and booster.
NY State’s Excelsior Pass Plus
Health Pass by CLEAR: Health Pass is a free feature in the CLEAR mobile app that allows you to link your proof of Covid-19 vaccination for entry into the theater. All you need is a government-issued ID and your vaccination card.
Your physical CDC issued vaccination card (or a photo)
If you are unable to receive the vaccine, we understand and regret that we are not able to welcome you to a performance at this time. If necessary, we are happy to refund you the price of your ticket.
At this time, approved masks must be worn by audience members, staff, and crew while inside New York City Center. You may only remove your mask while actively consuming concessions in the lobby or other designated areas. Masks must be worn for the duration of performances while in the theater.
