Encompass presents Angel of the Amazon, a compelling music drama by Evan Mack, based on the true story of Sister Dorothy Stang, who devoted her life to protection the Amazon rainforest and the indigenous peoples who make it their home.  In 2005 at age 73, Sister Dorothy was killed by assassins hired by the owner of a logging company, who felt her passion for the Earth and all of its gifts to be a threat.  Her sacrifice launched a global movement to save the rainforest and to plant trees around the world.  Dot, as she was fondly known, met and faced all these challenges in serving the people of Brazil whom she loved so deeply and for whom she sacrificed her life.
