In this hilarious Afrofuturistic take on the Shakespearean classic comedy of crossed lovers, Viola, long lost from her twin Sebastian, dresses as a boy and works under the Duke Orsino, whom she falls deeply in love with. However, Orsino is in love with the mourning Countess Olivia. Orsino sends Viola to court Olivia for him, but Olivia falls for Viola instead. Sebastian arrives, causing a torrent of mistaken identity, and marries Olivia. Viola then reveals her true identity and marries Orsino.

The Classical Theatre of Harlem remounts its raucous, critically acclaimed production of Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night, continuing its mission to place diversity at the forefront of their performances. This Twelfth Night engages with the global conversation around equity and inclusion and features a majority-Black team of artists lead by director Carl Cofield, CTH’s Associate Artistic Director, and Tiffany Rea-Fisher, Emerge125’s Executive Artistic Director. AUDELCO Award winner and Tony nominee Kara Young reprises her role as Viola.
