Premiering as an audio play at The Public, 2021 Susan Blackburn Prize winner Erika Dickerson-Despenza’s shadow/land returns in Spring 2023 with a stunning live production.

As Hurricane Katrina begins her ruin, tensions between duty & desire surface, a levee is brought to its knees & Ruth must wrestle with all that she's ready to let go. shadow/land is a lyrical meditation on legacy, erotic fugitivity and self-determination.

Directed by Lilly Award winner Candis C. Jones, shadow/land is the first installment of a 10-play cycle traversing the Katrina diaspora in an examination of the ongoing effects of disaster, evacuation, displacement and urban renewal rippling in and beyond New Orleans.

TodayTix Rush: $30 plus fees. A limited number of Rush tickets will become available through the TodayTix app at 9 AM on the day of each public performance until the inventory is sold out or until 2 hours before the performance time.

In-Person Rush: $32 including fees at the Taub Box Office. On days with evening-only performances, the Box Office will open at 2PM, and on days with a matinee, usually Saturdays and Sundays, the Box Office will open one (1) hour before the first curtain of the day. We strongly encourage you to visit our performance calendar to confirm our Box Office hours before planning to visit us in person.

Assistive Listening Devices (ALDs) amplify and clarify sound by cutting down or eliminating ambient noise. FM radio assistive listening systems are installed in all of our theaters, and headsets may be used at any seat. Headsets with induction neck-loops are available for patrons who use hearing aids and cochlear implants with a "T" switch. Ask your audiologist whether your hearing aid or cochlear implant has a "T" switch (telecoil) and how to use it with an assistive listening headset.
