Undesirable Elements: Ukraine is the most recent work by Ping Chong and Company in the Undesirable Elements series, in which real people talk about their own lives on stage. This production, directed by Ping Chong (National Medal of Arts recipient and Artistic Director Emeritus, Ping Chong and Company) and Virlana Tkacz (Artistic Director of the Yara Arts Group), explores the experiences of Ukrainian American New Yorkers: Ukrainian identity, immigration, inter-generational connections, the history of Ukrainians in the U.S. and the disastrous effect of Russia’s war. The year 2022 marked the 30th anniversary of the Undesirable Elements series, which has had over 65 productions performed around the world.
