The Discarded, co-conceived by female immigrant artists, is an immersive performance that combines live theater, object performance and multimedia installations, shedding light on the profound impact of waste and its migration across the world.
The Discarded intertwines together the narratives of two entities—a Diet Coke Can consumed and discarded in New York, journeying to developing Asian countries where it undergoes transformation into new forms, and an Asian female immigrant arriving in New York, eventually becoming a street waste picker. Initially seemingly disconnected, their paths converge through processes of deconstruction, ambition, self-doubt and revelation, revealing quirky connections and shared experiences.
