Winter 2025 at New York City Ballet introduces world premieres from Resident Choreographer Justin Peck and Artist in Residence Alexei Ratmansky among an array of Balanchine and Robbins masterpieces such as Divertimento No. 15, The Cage and Scotch Symphony. In honor of what would have been dance legend Maria Tallchief’s 100th birthday, three ballets in which she originated leading roles converge on a program highlighted by the ever-enchanting Firebird. Highly-anticipated revivals include the delightfully romantic Sylvia: Pas de Deux—also created for Tallchief—and the final work Balanchine made for the Company, Variations for Orchestra, a solo choreographed on Suzanne Farrell, another famed NYCB Principal Dancer. For winter’s grand finale, Peter Martins’ full-length production of Swan Lake, a timeless romantic tragedy, returns for a two-week run providing numerous opportunities to appreciate dancers across NYCB’s ranks.
