The 25-26 New York City Ballet season commences with six expansive mixed repertory programs, kicked off by George Balanchine’s drama-packed Swan Lake. The NYCB premiere of Justin Peck’s whirlwind Heatscape, a 2015 work originally created for Miami City Ballet with scenic designs by visual artist Shepard Fairey, appears on a program also featuring Peter Martins’ coltish pas de deux Zakouski, last seen in 2012. Jerome Robbins’ epic The Goldberg Variations returns alongside Balanchine’s radiant Tschaikovsky Suite No. 3. And a world premiere from Jamar Roberts, former dancer and Resident Choreographer at Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, concludes the Fall Fashion Gala and Contemporary Choreography I programs, both also including Gianna Reisen’s first work for the company, Composer’s Holiday. Among other Fall 2025 highlights, Ulysses Dove’s riveting Red Angels, Artist in Residence Alexei Ratmansky’s scintillating Voices and Balanchine’s gracefully mercurial Ballade, last seen in 2003, also make their return to the stage.
