Taylor Mac is a phenomenon.

For the past 17 years, as a playwright, actor, cabaret performer, and singer/songwriter, he has created events that provoke and embrace his diverse audience
. His current project (which sold out in NYC this past season before it even opened) gives new meaning to the word ambitious: a concert series of 30 touring programs celebrating the last 240 years of popular music in America.

As part of his most ambitious project to date, Mac will perform his look at 1846–1856, Whitman vs. Foster: Songs Popular Near the Breaking Point, a showdown between Walt Whitman, the Bard of Democracy, and Stephen Foster, the father of American music.
