Dancemaker Paul Taylor, one of the seminal artists of our time, continues to shape the homegrown American art of modern dance that he helped define. The Paul Taylor Dance Company, established in 1954, is one of the world's most highly respected and sought-after ensembles, bringing Paul Taylor’s ever-burgeoning repertoire to theaters and venues of every size and description.

Taylor is known for dances that offer observations on life’s complexities while tackling some of society’s thorniest issues. While he may propel his dancers through space for the sheer beauty of it, he more frequently uses them to illuminate such profound issues as war, piety, spirituality, sexuality, morality, and mortality.

This year, the company commemorates the late Mr. Taylor with “Paul Taylor: Celebrate the Dancemaker,” a multi-year worldwide celebration of Taylor’s astonishing legacy as well as his vision of a future for modern dance. As part of this celebration they are bringing program of beloved masterpieces to The Purchase PAC.
