The Orchestra Now (TŌN) returns for its fifth concert season in residence at the Fisher Center at Bard. This season features works by Copland, Strauss, Shostakovich, Schubert, Beethoven, Mahler, and many more. All concerts are punctuated with brief remarks by TŌN’s inspiring musicians, many of whom will be on hand to speak with audience members during intermissions.

SIBELIUS AND SHOSTAKOVICH

Xinran Li,
a winner of Bard Conservatory’s concerto competition, takes on Sibelius’ touching violin concerto. Then, Shostakovich’s symphony—his first written after the death of Stalin—takes us from dark intensity to ecstatic joy.
