Rent stars Adam Pascal and Anthony Rapp celebrate their three-decade friendship in this evening of music they grew up with. While there will be a few numbers from the Pulitzer Prize-winning musical that made them famous, this brand-new concert features some songs you’ve never heard them perform before, including retro ’80s classics. The Green Room 42: A Tribute to Klaus Nomi

A legend on NYC’s downtown performance scene in the ’70s, Klaus Nomi was a German countertenor and baritone who looked and sang like a creature from another world. Although he flirted with mainstream fame, including being one of David Bowie’s backup singers in 1979 on Saturday Night Live, he was decidedly niche, though his legend has steadily grown since his death from AIDS in 1983. This benefit concert for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS reunites original members of Nomi’s band to perform his signature songs as well as numbers from an in-development musical about his incredible life. Great Performances at the Met: Eugene Onegin
Streaming until Sunday, September 6 for FREE.
The Metropolitan Opera presents Tchaikovsky’s opera adaptation of Pushkin’s romantic tragedy, with Iurii Samoilov as the callous title character, the object of affection for Asmik Grigorian’s lovesick Tatiana. Tony nominee Deborah Warner directs the production, which was recorded live onstage earlier this year.

Hadestown: The Musical
Streaming on Amazon Prime for $20.
Time to go way down to Hadestown as the pro-shot of the beloved, Tony-winning Broadway musical comes to streaming. Last year, the show was filmed over the course of three live performances in London with five of its original Broadway stars: Reeve Carney as Orpheus, André De Shields as Hermes, Amber Gray as Persephone, Eva Noblezada as Eurydice and Patrick Page as Hades. Released theatrically earlier this summer, the film was a critical and commercial hit, a brilliant cinematic capture of Anaïs Mitchell’s indie folk rock musical intertwining the complex love stories of Orpheus and Eurydice, and Hades and Persephone. Over the past decade, Hadestown has set many hearts aflame, including Noblezada’s and Carney’s: the two met doing the show and are now married.

This dance production was filmed live onstage at Sadler’s Wells Theatre in London.
