Last season, Roundabout Theatre Company presented an acclaimed Broadway mounting of David Henry Hwang's 2007 play Yellow Face, and you can watch a recording of that Tony-nominated revival online courtesy of PBS Great Performances. Inspired by real-life incidents in the playwright's life in the 1990s—particularly his protests against the casting of a white man in a Eurasian role in the original production of Miss Saigon and the disastrous debut of his play Face Value—the show is both funny and furious as Hwang explores racism and identity politics. Lost star Daniel Dae Kim snagged a Tony nomination portraying the playwright's onstage avatar and Francis Jue won the award for his empathetic performance as Hwang's dad. An 18-year-old work that feels strikingly timely.

Recorded live onstage in 1998, this glorious concert from the Tony-winning Broadway icon includes many songs by her longtime friend and collaborator Stephen Sondheim, including "No One Is Alone," "Not A Day Goes By," "Being Alive" and "Children Will Listen," plus other numbers from her career, like the showstopping "Time Heals Everything" from the ill-fated Mack and Mabel.
