The 20th Season of Classic Musical Revivals
This is a "staged concert". It is similar to the Encores series at City Center. The entire show is presented. Actors do have their scripts in hand and refer to them as needed. They wear costumes and there is a hint of scenery. They enter and exit as per stage directions. There is a piano on stage and no amplification
Since 1997 Musicals Tonight! has revived 82 representatives of America's greatest art form - The Musical Comedy. And for that effort they were awarded an OBIE.
The Boys from Syracuse
February 13 - 26
The Boys from Syracuse is a musical with music by Richard Rodgers and lyrics by Lorenz Hart, based on William Shakespeare's play, The Comedy of Errors, as adapted by librettist George Abbott. Well-known songs from the score include "Falling in Love with Love", "This Can't Be Love" and "Sing for Your Supper"
Anything Goes
February 27- March 11
Anything Goes has music and lyrics by Cole Porter and is set on an ocean liner where night club singer Reno Sweeney is en route to England. Her pal Billy has stowed away to be near his love, Hope, but she is engaged to a wealthy Lord. Also on board are Public Enemy #13, Moonface Martin and his sidekick-in-crime Erma. With the help of disguises, tap-dancing sailors and blackmail, Reno and Martin join forces to help Billy win Hope. Songs include: "I Get a Kick Out of You"; "You'd Be So Easy to Love; You're the Top; "It's De-Lovely; "Let's Misbehave", "It's De-lovely", and "Blow, Gabriel, Blow".
Calamity Jane
March 13 - 25
Calamity Jane has music by Sammy Fain, lyrics by Paul Francis Webster, with a book by Ronald Hanmer and Phil Park.
