God takes the form of Emmy® Award winner Sean Hayes (Will & Grace, Promises, Promises) in An Act of God, the sinfully funny and critically acclaimed new play where the Almighty and His devoted Angels answer some of the deepest questions that have plagued mankind since Creation. He's returned to set the record straight… and He's not holding back! A New York TimesCritics' Pick!  raves, it's "Deliriously, Divinely Funny!" and the Los Angeles Times proclaims "Sean Hayes is the Funniest Guy in Heaven (and Earth)."

Written by God and transcribed by 13-time Emmy® Award winner David Javerbaum (The Daily Show), this hilarious 90-minute comedy is directed by two-time Tony Award® winner Joe Mantello (Wicked).

  • I could say that the return engagement of An Act of God, now with Sean Hayes, is a revelation, a miraculous epiphany or similar “religious” experience. Truth to tell, I was already a believer. I thoroughly enjoyed David Javerbaum’s theological satire last summer when it starred Jim Parsons, and I could watch Hayes’s bratty-campy shtick all night. So what if Hayes and his helpful angels Gabriel and Michael (James Gleason, David Josefsberg) are preaching to the choir? Preach out, Sean!

  • Mr. Javerbaum’s wit, one is tempted to say, is almost as infinite as God’s wisdom. There’s a good gag a minute, maybe more, in this 90-minute show. And in Mr. Hayes, God has a delightful infinite-wisdom delivery system. His God is by turns comically admonishing, affectionate and just occasionally petulant, as who would not be when his carefully laid plans have resulted in, well, the world in its endless imperfection.
