In this contemporary baroque playground of dance, music, and monologue from Finnish-born, Stockholm-based choreographer Kenneth Kvarnström, dancer-applied duct tape sets the terms for a range of abstract movements as a lone multi-instrumentalist accompanies on lute, theorbo, and guitar.
Taking the occasional time-out to lecture on baking, the fugue form, and other topics, the dancers—marrying lyrical grace with street-style body isolation—use modern gesture to elucidate their asides while expressing freedom within constraint. Works by Bach, Couperin, Poulenc, and others are featured alongside costumes by Swedish fashion designer Astrid Olsson in this playful counterpoint of old and new, told and shown, bound and free.
Choreography by Kenneth Kvarnström in collaboration with the company. Music curated by Jonas Nordberg
