CMS's Winter Festival celebrates the dawn of chamber music concert life by recreating four programs performed in Vienna in the 1820s.
Between 1823 and 1828, 108 concerts were programmed, presented, and performed by Beethoven and Schubert’s friend and collaborator, the violinist Ignaz Schuppanzigh (1776-1830).
In the process, Schuppanzigh became the acknowledged father of the classical chamber music series, and his promotion of the Classical style through the music of Schubert, Beethoven, Haydn, Mozart, and other worthy composers had a lasting effect on audiences and the chamber music world.
PROGRAM:
11th of November, 1827
Tuesday, March 13th
Haydn, Mozart, & Beethoven
23rd of January, 1825
Sunday, March 18th

14th of March, 1824
Friday, March 23th

26th of March, 1827
