An occasion this momentous comes only once. Coinciding with City Center’s 75th Anniversary Season, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater celebrates 60 years of groundbreaking artistry with its biggest season ever, centered on premieres by some of the most popular choreographers in Ailey’s history.

Rennie Harris (Exodus, Home, and Songs for a New World for Encores! Off-Center) has created the company’s first-ever two-act work, Lazarus, inspired by the life and legacy of the late Alvin Ailey.

Ronald K. Brown (
Grace and Open Door) brings his rousing mix of modern and African dance to his latest work, The Call

British powerhouse Wayne McGregor (Chroma) thrills audiences once again with the company premiere of his acclaimed contemporary ballet Kairos.

Rising choreographer Jessica Lang enters the repertory for the first time with her luminous new EN.

The season also includes a long-awaited new production of Artistic Director Robert Battle's electrifying Juba, his first work for the Company. Special programs throughout December bring new vitality to many treasures from Mr. Ailey’s wonderfully rich body of work, from seldom-seen gems to the timeless classic Revelations.
