Leave a Message After...THE BEEP, an original musical theater piece weaving poems, stories, and songs from celebrated Puerto Rican writers into a heartfelt, often hilarious portrait of Spanish Caribbean life and the migrant experience. The production brings the Nuyorican fire of Jesús Papoleto Meléndez, Magdalena Gómez, and Mariposa Fernández — poets who turned block-party Spanglish and barrio blues into literature — meets the voices of island poets Francisco Félix Canales, Rubén Ramos Colón, and Amarilis Tavárez Vales, brought into the fold through collaboration with the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Puerto Rico (MAC). Four foundational and beloved voices round out the collection: Jesús Colón, Manuel Méndez Ballester, Julia de Burgos, Judith Ortiz Cofer.
Show Notes: THE BEEP is a bilingual production presented in English and Spanish with supertitles.
