American Ballet Theatre is considered one of the greatest dance companies in the world, revered as a living national treasure since its founding in 1939.

Few ballet companies rival ABT in size, scope, and outreach. Though located in New York City, ABT annually tours the United States – performing for 300,000 people annually – and is the only major cultural institution to do so.

Season Highlights:


Eight performances of Giselle
, beginning Monday, May 14, with Hee Seo, Roberto Bolle and Gillian Murphy in the leading roles.  Katherine Williams will debut as Myrta on Thursday, May 17.  Guest Artist Natalia Osipova will dance the role of Giselle on Friday, May 18, opposite David Hallberg as Albrecht. 

An all-new production of Harlequinade, staged by Ratmansky after the original by Marius Petipa, will be given its World Premiere by ABT on June 4th

The World Premiere of AFTERITE by Wayne McGregor, Resident Choreographer at The Royal Ballet

The season’s first performance of Firebird features Christine Shevchenko and Thomas Forster in their New York debuts as the Firebird and Ivan, respectively, alongside Stella Abrera as The Maiden and Cory Stearns as Kaschei on Wednesday, May 23rd

Eight performances of Swan Lake, choreographed by Kevin McKenzie after Marius Petipa, will be given beginning Monday, June 18th with Devon Teuscher and Cory Stearns leading the opening night cast.

Last season’s World Premiere production of Whipped Cream returns to the stage for eight performances beginning Monday, July 2nd featuring Daniil Simkin, Stella Abrera and Sarah Lane in the leading roles. Choreographed by Alexei Ratmansky,

Lottery & Rush

American Ballet Theatre offers a limited number of $35 Rush tickets for every performance of the Met Season, to be purchased online on a first come, first served basis.  Ticket buyers may purchase up two tickets for one performance, every seven days.  Rush tickets go on-sale at 12 Noon for Monday through Friday performances, at 2:00 P.M. for Saturday evening performances, and four hours prior to curtain for matinees.  Rush ticket purchases require advance registration on the Met website.

    Wireless headsets which work with the Sennheiser Infrared Listening System to amplify sound are available at the coat check station on the South Concourse Level before performances. To secure a headset, you must present a credit card or driver’s license. These headsets are provided as a free service for our audience members and no ticket refunds will be made for any malfunctions of this service.
