The 11 shows bowing on Broadway over the next two months

---

By mid-December, the vast majority of Broadway's 41 theatres will be illuminated (the Palace is being renovated and a few others won't reopen until spring). The last of the long-running shows that shut down abruptly in March 2020 resume performances over the next two months, including The Book of Mormon, Dear Evan Hansen and Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, plus we'll see the long-awaited premieres of The Music Man, MJ The Musical and Flying Over Sunset. If you need a refresher about what's currently running on Broadway, we have roundups of all the shows that opened in September and October. If you're a planner and want to see a comprehensive list of every production scheduled to open during Broadway's 2021-2022 recovery season, we've got that, too.

In terms of COVID-19 safety protocols, all Broadway productions require theatregoers to show proof of full vaccination with an FDA or WHO authorized vaccine. Exceptions are made for children under 12 since they are not yet eligible to be vaccinated, as well as for people with medical conditions or closely held religious beliefs that prevent vaccination. Everyone who falls into those categories must provide proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR test taken within 72 hours of showtime, or a negative COVID-19 antigen test taken within six hours of when the curtain rises. Masks are mandatory for audiences inside theatres regardless of vaccination status.

MUSICALS (RE)OPENING IN NOVEMBER & DECEMBER

Diana: The Musical - November 2
Longacre Theatre, 220 West 48th Street between Broadway and Eighth Avenue

Previews begin November 2. Opens November 17. Closes December 19. If you're a TDF member, log in to your account to purchase discount tickets.

Come November, you'll have two ways to watch this history-inspired musical: on Netflix, where Diana has been streaming since October 1, and on Broadway, where the production will finally open after being shut down during previews in March 2020. The team behind the Tony-winning show Memphis, Joe DiPietro and David Bryan, give the People's Princess the royal treatment, with Jeanna de Waal as Diana, Roe Hartrampf as Prince Charles, Erin Davie as Camilla and two-time Tony winner Judy Kaye as Queen Elizabeth. The production, which premiered at the La Jolla Playhouse in 2019, traces her rise from shy girl to unhappy royal to beloved icon and activist who was cut down in her prime. Come From Away Tony winner Christopher Ashley directs.

---

The Book of Mormon - November 5
Eugene O'Neill Theatre, 230 West 49th Street between Broadway and Eighth Avenue

Resumes performances November 5. Open run.

Trey Parker, Matt Stone and Robert Lopez's irreverent, Tony-winning smash about the misadventures of two Mormon missionaries proselytizing in a small Ugandan village is set to reopen, but expect some changes. In addition to disgraced producer Scott Rudin getting the boot, the writers have addressed areas of concern prompted by a letter sent by Black cast members after George Floyd's murder. But we have faith this show will be as funny as ever, even with anti-racist changes. Kevin Clay, Cody Jamison Strand, Kim Exum, Stephen Ashfield and Sterling Jarvis star.

---

Flying Over Sunset - November 11
Vivian Beaumont Theater, 150 West 65th Street between Broadway and Amsterdam Avenue

Previews begin November 11. Opens December 13. Closes January 16, 2022.

After a pandemic delay (the show was originally slated to begin previews the day the shutdown hit), Flying Over Sunset finally premieres at Lincoln Center Theater's Broadway house. This far-out musical takes place in 1957 at a beach house, where movie star Cary Grant (Tony nominee Tony Yazbeck), author Aldous Huxley (Tony nominee Harry Hadden-Paton) and playwright-turned-politician Clare Boothe Luce (Tony nominee Carmen Cusack) are all tripping on acid. Yes, it sounds kooky, but it's from the crack creative team of writer-director James Lapine (Sunday in the Park with George, Into the Woods), composer Tom Kitt (Next to Normal) and lyricist Michael Korie (Grey Gardens), so we have high-Flying hopes.

Company - November 15
Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre, 242 West 45th Street between Seventh and Eighth Avenues

Previews begin November 15. Opens December 9. Open run.

Everybody rise! This gender-swapped revival of Stephen Sondheim and George Furth's landmark musical about romantic relationships is sure to get lots of love on Broadway. Tony winner Katrina Lenk stars as Bobbie, a single woman surrounded by quirky married couples. Tony-winning director Marianne Elliott premiered this take in London, but the legendary Patti LuPone, who won an Olivier for her turn as Joanne, is the only holdover from that mounting. With a cast of Broadway regulars (including Christopher Sieber, Jennifer Simard, Christopher Fitzgerald and Nikki Renée Daniels) and timely updates (a same-sex couple), this Company is sure to be as groundbreaking as the original was a half century ago.

---

MJ The Musical - December 6
Neil Simon Theatre, 250 West 52nd Street between Broadway and Eighth Avenue

Previews begin December 6. Opens February 1, 2022. Open run.

A jukebox musical about the King of Pop, MJ boasts stellar talents both on and backstage. Two-time Pulitzer Prize winner Lynn Nottage crafted the story, which takes place in 1992 as Michael Jackson prepares for his epic Dangerous World Tour; Tony winner Christopher Wheeldon choreographs and directs; and newcomer Myles Frost stars. Still, ever since this project was announced, it's sparked controversy as well as curiosity, since the show seemingly won't address allegations of sexual abuse against the icon. They don't wanna be startin' somethin'; instead, the production serves as a showcase for more than two dozen of his beloved hits.

---

Dear Evan Hansen - December 11
Music Box Theatre, 239 West 45th Street between Seventh and Eighth Avenues

Resumes performances December 11. Open run.

Winner of the 2017 Tony Award for best musical, this tale of a high school misfit who accidentally gets everything he ever wanted resumes performances on Broadway with Jordan Fisher in the title role. While original star Ben Platt headlined the recent film adaptation of the musical, judging by the reviews, audiences may prefer for this show to be found on stage.

---

The Music Man - December 20
Winter Garden Theatre, 1634 Broadway between 50th and 51st Streets

Previews begin December 20. Opens February 10, 2022. Open run.

Tony winners Hugh Jackman and Sutton Foster headline this revival of Meredith Willson's cherished musical about an early 20th-century con man who's rehabilitated by love. Tony winner Jerry Zaks directs this Golden Age classic, which hasn't been seen on Broadway in more than 20 years. Talk about a prestige production, even the supporting actors have Tonys: Jayne Houdyshell, Jefferson Mays and Shuler Hensley.

PLAYS (RE)OPENING IN NOVEMBER & DECEMBER

Clyde's - November 3
Hayes Theater, 240 West 44th Street between Seventh and Eighth Avenues

Previews begin November 3. Opens November 22. Closes January 16, 2022.

Lynn Nottage won her two Pulitzer Prizes for dramas directed by Kate Whoriskey: Ruined and Sweat. So it's exciting that these two talented women are teaming up once again for the dramatist's latest politically savvy play. Presented on Broadway by Second Stage Theater, Clyde's is set at a truck stop sandwich shop, where the hard-boiled owner (two-time Emmy winner Uzo Aduba from Orange Is the New Black) offers formerly incarcerated individuals work and a shot at a future. Two-time Emmy winner Ron Cephas Jones (This Is Us), Reza Salazar, Kara Young and Edmund Donovan costar.

---

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child - November 12
Lyric Theatre, 213 West 42nd Street between Seventh and Eighth Avenues

Previews begin November 12. Opens December 7. Open run.

It's magic: This two-part, Tony-winning continuation of J. K. Rowling's Harry Potter saga is reopening on Broadway as one streamlined play, reimagined and restaged by the original creative team, including playwright Jack Thorne and director John Tiffany. We suspect this epic will continue to cast a spell, even in shortened form. James Snyder, Diane Davis, James Romney, David Abeles, Jenny Jules, Nadia Brown, Aaron Bartz and Brady Dalton Richards star.

---

Slave Play - November 23
August Wilson Theatre, 245 West 52nd Street between Broadway and Eighth Avenue

Begins previews November 23. Opens December 2. Closes January 23, 2022.

How do you follow up losing a record 12 Tony Awards (a travesty, if you ask me)? By bringing your polarizing play back to Broadway for an encore run! Written by provocateur, fashion rebel and Twitter star Jeremy O. Harris, Slave Play returns for a limited engagement starring most of the original NYC cast. One particularly exciting new addition: Antoinette Crowe-Legacy, who is taking over the pivotal role of Kaneisha, a part Harris wrote for her when he was a student at Yale School of Drama and which she originated in the show's first developmental production in 2017. Robert O'Hara once again directs this raunchy, raw and real dissection of interracial relationships.

---

Skeleton Crew - December 27
Samuel J. Friedman Theatre, 261 West 47th Street between Broadway and Eighth Avenue

Previews begin December 27. Opens January 26, 2022. Closes February 20, 2022.

Tony winner Phylicia Rashad headlines the Broadway debut of Skeleton Crew, Dominique Morisseau's Obie-winning play about embattled workers at a Detroit auto factory at the start of the Great Recession. A critically acclaimed hit at the Atlantic Theater Company in 2016, this new mounting is produced by Manhattan Theatre Club and directed by Ruben Santiago-Hudson, who helmed the show Off Broadway. Chanté Adams, Brandon J. Dirden and Adesola Osakalumi costar.
