Carroll Park
Court Street and Smith Street, Brooklyn, NY 11231
Frequently revived during moments of national tension, Julius Caesar follows the conspiracy against Rome’s most powerful leader and the devastating chain reaction that follows. As the United States approaches the 250th anniversary of its founding later this summer, the play lands with renewed urgency. At its core, Shakespeare’s tragedy asks what happens when citizens attempt to change the course of their nation, and what consequences they are willing to face.

Accessibility

  • Parking

We have always found that there is ample parking right next to the park on Carroll Street. It’s a school zone and during the school day the parking on that street is restricted, so normally by 5:30/6 o’clock it is fairly empty.
  • Restroom

There are 2 bathrooms on either side of the Park House. They will both be available throughout the performance, and are wheelchair accessible.
  • Wheelchair Info

The park itself is wheelchair accessible, but the neighboring subway (F/G Carroll) is not. If you need an elevator, we advise that you use the one at Jay Street MetroTech (elevator located on northeast corner of Jay and Willoughby Streets) or the Borough Hall (2, 3, 4, 5) stop. Also, as we set chairs out for each performance, please let us know if you’d like us to remove chairs so that you can get the best view of the performance. Please email us at info@smithstreetstage.org 24 hours in advance.
