Adapted from the Disney film, the Broadway smash hit musical Disney’s Newsies is based on the real-life NYC Newsboy Strike of 1899 with a score by eight-time Academy Award
winner Alan Menken (Beauty and the Beast, Little Shop of Horrors, Aladdin) and Jack Feldman and a book by four-time Tony Award winner Harvey Fierstein.
Newsies tells the heart-stopping story of how a team of newsboys defied the publisher of a prominent New York newspaper to strike for fair wages and fair treatment. The score features Jack Kelly’s soaring ballad “Santa Fe,” the rousing newsies’ anthems “Seize the Day” and “Carrying the Banner,” and the splashy tap-number “King of New Yorker.”
