MY NAME IS ASHER LEV
Open Captioned Performance:
Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at 7:00 PM

The Westside Theatre Upstairs

Tickets: $45.50 each, orchestra seating

Based On The Best-Selling Novel By Chaim Potok (The Chosen), My Name is Asher Lev is a new American play set in Brooklyn. It tells the powerful story of a boy prodigy who must be an artist at any cost - against the will of family, community and tradition. It is a luminous portrait of a young artist with a universal theme to follow our passion. This play is written by Aaron Posner and directed by Gordon Edelstein.

The best-selling novel is considered one of author Chaim Potok's finest works. According to The New York Times Book Review, it is "A novel of finely articulated tragic power... Little short of a work of genius." The Wall Street Journal states, "Profound in its vision of humanity, of religion, and of art."

My Name is Asher Lev is the newest play to transfer to the New York stage from the Long Wharf Theatre. More than 30 Long Wharf productions have moved to Broadway and Off Broadway, including: Wit (Pulitzer Prize), The Shadow Box (Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award for Best Play), Hughie, American Buffalo, and The Gin Game (Pulitzer Prize).

"You should see it, your children should see it, everyone should see it." - New York Magazine

"A triumph. One of the best new plays of the year." - Huffington Post

"Four Stars. Critics Pick." - Time Out NY

"Don't miss this incredible piece of theatre." - Joan Hamburg, WOR

"Excellent and heartfelt. A primal scene of American drama." - The New York Times

"A touching and soulful portrait of a family, saturated with vivid colors and handsomely framed." - NY1

HANDS ON A HARDBODY

Brooks Atkinson Theatre

Tickets: $74.50 each, orchestra seating

For ten hard-luck Texans, a new lease on life is so close they can touch it. Under a scorching sun for days on end, armed with nothing but hope, humor and ambition, they'll fight to keep at least one hand on a brand-new truck in order to win it. In the hilarious, hard-fought contest that is Hands on a Hardbody only one winner can drive away with the American Dream.

Inspired by true events, this new musical features a book by Doug Wright (Pulitzer Prize winner, I Am My Own Wife), lyrics by Amanda Green (Bring it On: The Musical) and music by Trey Anastasio (Phish) and Amanda Green. Directed by Neil Pepe (Speed-the-Plow) with musical staging by Sergio Trujillo (Memphis, Jersey Boys).

"It strikes a fresh note for American musical theatre." - Charles Isherwood, The New York Times
