New York, N.Y. - Theatre Development Fund, a not-for-profit service organization for the performing arts, has just announced that TDF Performing Arts Vouchers are now available to all adventurous theatregoers online at www.tdf.org. Until now, TDF Vouchers have only been available exclusively to TDF’s eligible membership of 80,000 students, teachers, retirees, civil servants and performing arts professionals.
“In examining ways on how to better serve the off-Off Broadway community, we realized that there was a large population of theatregoers, both New Yorkers and visitors, who may not be interested in a full TDF membership or who may not be eligible to join TDF, but who would benefit from our voucher program – its convenience, its concentration of information about the work being performed by the small companies that make up the voucher producers,” says TDF’s Executive Director, Victoria Bailey. “By making TDF Performing Arts Vouchers available to anyone, we hope that it will bring new audiences to these smaller companies and will help them develop a new and loyal audience base, as well as increase attendance by people already interested in off-Off Broadway.”
TDF first introduced the TDF Performing Arts Voucher 35 years ago, in September 1972, in order to help build audiences and increase revenue at the hundreds of small venues (generally, 99 seats or less), where off-Off Broadway theatre, dance and music is performed. Since launching this program, over three million TDF Vouchers have been redeemed.
TDF Vouchers are $9 each and are sold in sets of four for $36 at TDF’s Web site: www.tdf.org or by calling (212) 912-9770 x 397. A current listing of productions and venues that accept TDF Vouchers as full admission is also available at the TDF Web site.
