A fierce, feminist, epic cabaret about women, war, displacement and resistance, (beyond) Doomsday Scrolling takes us into an imagined theatre sheltering women fleeing from wars across time and across the globe. It connects the 2022 invasion of Ukraine with the larger landscape of systemic inequity and aggression around the world – and amplifies the voices of women as social actors in war time. Featuring a live ensemble and songs ranging freely over cultures, eras and genres, this multi-lingual show is performed by 12 women – and one man – from 10 countries and multiple generations – engaging experiences of war and displacement through drama, music, satire, living newspaper, personal testimony and fragments from the rich tradition of women’s war writing. Presenting freshly devised material in each iteration, this performance aims to bear witness, to raise humanitarian aid and to stand in international solidarity with refugees, and against the divisions being sown between peoples.
