Music Before 1800 is a New York City institution, and is the city’s longest running series devoted exclusively to early music. Since the series’ inception, concerts have been presented in the outstanding acoustic of Corpus Christi Church in Morningside Heights, and gaining national attention in early music communities with programs of sacred and secular music ranging from Medieval to early Classical.
Offering artists of the highest caliber both audience favorites as well as rising stars, including New York’s finest ensembles, come from across the United States, Canada and Europe.
Thursday evening offsite concerts are held in different locations in Manhattan. For our 45th season, all three will take place at The Kosciuszko Foundation. Our mission is to present programming by outstanding international, national and local early music groups in an acoustically and aesthetically superb setting.
