Under the direction of Governor Andrew Cuomo, Broadway shows in New York City will suspend all performances immediately in support of the health and well-being of the theatregoing public, as well as those who work in the theatre industry. Performances will commence the week of April 13, 2020.

Never underestimate the power of a pronoun! What began as a small, grassroots concert performed at The LGBTQ Center in 2006, quickly grew into an highly anticipated event presented in Broadway’s best theatres.

Broadway Backwards, the one‐night‐only musical performance produced by Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS and benefiting Broadway Cares and the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Community Center in New York City.

Broadway Backwards
is a celebratory evening for gays and lesbians to see their stories told through the great songs of musical theatre by celebrated Broadway performers. This star-studded evening features Broadway’s brightest talents, with a twist: men sing songs originally intended for women, and vice versa. Artists will honor the great songs of musical theatre while challenging the boundaries and limitations of gender and sexuality in this evening when love comes before all else.

Last year’s exciting and empowering edition raised a record $704,491
. The 130-person cast featured a bevy of Broadway stars, including Jenn Colella, Gavin Creel, Darren Criss, Ariana DeBose, Andrew Rannells and Kathleen Turner, backed by a live, 12-piece orchestra.
