Winner of 9 Tony Awards, including Best Musical, this hilarious smash hit follows a mismatched pair of Mormons sent on a mission to a place that's about as far from Salt Lake City as you can get. Entertainment Weekly calls The Book of Mormon "the funniest show ever." The New York Times simply calls it "the best musical of this century."

Created by Trey Parker and Matt Stone, five-time Emmy Award-winning creators of South Park, and Robert Lopez, two-time Academy Award winner for Best Original Songs from the musicals Frozen and Coco and Tony Award-winning co-creator of Avenue Q, The Book of Mormon opened on Broadway in the spring of 2011 to rapturous reviews and has gone on to become one of the most successful musicals of all time.

"You'll laugh until it hurts!" (Rolling Stone). And isn't it time you had a good laugh? This is musical theater. Missionary style.

Quotation Mark

This is to all the doubters and deniers out there, the ones who say that heaven on Broadway does not exist, that it’s only some myth our ancestors dreamed up. I am here to report that a newborn, old-fashioned, pleasure-giving musical has arrived at the Eugene O’Neill Theater, the kind our grandparents told us left them walking on air if not on water. So hie thee hence, nonbelievers (and believers too), to The Book of Mormon, and feast upon its sweetness ... All the folks involved in Mormon prove themselves worthy, dues-paying members of the church of Broadway ... A celebration of the privilege, for just a couple of hours, of living inside that improbable paradise called a musical comedy.

—Ben Brantley, The New York Times

Grade: A! And what happens to Elder Price (Andrew Rannells) and Elder Cunningham (Josh Gad) ... it’s R-rated, hilarious, humane and the basis of an exhilarating Broadway musical at once revolutionary and classic, funny and obscene, uncompromising in production standards and unafraid of just about anything else. ... [Matt Stone, Trey Parker and Robert Lopez] have also created a spectacular, rather perfect Broadway musical not only grounded in a serious love and understanding of the traditions that make a Broadway musical great but also filled with love for the very flawed, mortal characters who populate this romp. ... This is what 21st-century Broadway can be. If Broadway has the balls. Lord knows, The Book of Mormon does.

—Lisa Schwarzbaum, Entertainment Weekly

Five stars! Brimming with cheerful obscenity, sharp satire and catchy tunes, The Book of Mormon is a sick mystic revelation, the most exuberantly entertaining Broadway musical in years.

—David Cote, Time Out New York
