In-person shows have been back for over a year now, but sometimes we want to get our theatre fix at home. Thankfully, there are still wonderful stage performances to watch online. Our carefully curated list spotlights the 10 best performances to stream through Labor Day for free or at low cost.

Liza with a Z

Streaming for FREE indefinitely

It's Liza with Z not Lisa with an s, 'cause Lisa with an s goes ssno'zz! Tubi is streaming the celebrated 1972 concert special directed by Bob Fosse, featuring Liza Minnelli belting, hoofing and wowing in an array of outfits designed by Halston. Filmed on stage at Broadway's Lyceum Theatre, the program was an award-winning smash in its day, but was lost in the vaults for decades before being rereleased in 2006. This is Minnelli in her heyday, performing highlights from Cabaret, of-the-era pop songs and special material written by Minnelli's longtime pals John Kander and Fred Ebb, including the title tune.

Liza in New Orleans

Streaming for FREE indefinitely

More Liza live on stage! Tubi is also streaming this 1979 concert showcasing the diva in her prime. Although a truncated version of this performance made the rounds for years, this is the full 90-minute evening, ending with a backstage hug between Minnelli and Fred Ebb. Recorded at the New Orleans Theatre of the Performing Arts, the concert includes many Minnelli standards as well as an incredible New York medley. Her tireless backup singer-dancers are Broadway vets Obba Babatundé and Roger Minami.

All Arts: Unity: Choreographer Nai-Ni Chen Remembered

Streaming for FREE indefinitely

All Arts presents Unity: Choreographer Nai-Ni Chen Remembered, a tribute to the celebrated dancer-choreographer, who drowned while on a family vacation in Hawaii last December. Despite the tragedy, the company she built into a thriving enterprise continues, showcasing her signature style of classical Taiwanese dance infused with modern and contemporary movement. This half-hour tribute to her life, artistry and legacy includes interviews with her collaborators and performance footage of Chen and her diverse troupe, which she founded in 1988.

All Arts: Julie Taymor's A Midsummer Night's Dream

Streaming for FREE indefinitely

All Arts presents Julie Taymor's critically acclaimed mounting of A Midsummer Night's Dream, which was recorded live on stage at Brooklyn's Theatre for a New Audience. Stage stalwarts Tina Benko, David Harewood and Max Casella lead the cast of this enchanting romantic comedy about young lovers and magical sprites crossing paths in the woods. Taymor puts her creative stamp on the Shakespeare classic, which features projections, puppets and more than a dozen children as fairies. A wonderful way to close out the summer season!

Love Quirks

Live-streaming Saturday, August 27 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, August 28 at 3 p.m. ET for $22

This musical rom-com about four thirtysomethings looking for connection in the big city has been running at Off Broadway's AMT Theater all summer. This weekend, the production will live-stream two performances directly from the stage. Mark Childers and Seth Bisen-Hersh's tuneful take on love and friendship has been described as Friends with show tunes. It's the perfect summer theatrical fling.

PBS Great Performances: Uncle Vanya Starring Toby Jones

Streaming until Wednesday, August 31 for FREE

PBS Great Performances presents Conor McPherson's striking adaptation of Uncle Vanya, Anton Chekhov's heartbreaking tale of loneliness and longing. Toby Jones stars in the title role, an unhappy man who believes life has unfairly passed him by. Richard Armitage, Rosalind Eleazar, Aimee Lou Wood, Anna Calder Marshall, Dearbhla Molloy, Roger Allam and Peter Wight costar in this production, which was filmed live at London's Harold Pinter Theatre where the show enjoyed a critically acclaimed but truncated run due to the pandemic.

Live from 54 Below: John Lloyd Young: Mostly Soul. Beloved Hits from Motown to Broadway

Live-streaming Thursday, September 1 at 7 p.m. ET for $25

Talk about a soulful stream! Cabaret mainstay and Jersey Boys Tony winner John Lloyd Young returns to 54 Below to croon the greatest hits of Little Anthony, The Platters, Sam Cooke, Smokey Robinson, Luther Vandross and, of course, iconic Four Seasons tunes. The Green Room 42: Eva Noblezada: So This Is Love

At just 26, Eva Noblezada is a bona fide Broadway diva, with two Tony nominations for her captivating performances as a teenage orphan in the 2017 revival of Miss Saigon and the plucky Eurydice in Hadestown. Although Patti Murin played a Disney princess on Broadway, her first solo cabaret show in eight years is definitely not rated G! While she promises there won't be nudity, the Frozen and Twitter star will be sharing hilarious, no-holds-barred pandemic tales as she explores motherhood, mental health and musical theatre. Enjoy numbers from her career (Lysistrata Jones, Xanadu), pop favorites and some unexpected songs with her special guests James Jackson Jr. and John-Andrew Morrison from A Strange Loop.
